Dr. Corinne B. Shumaker received her Doctorate in Physical
Therapy from Shenandoah University in 2010.Her education consisted of multiple internships involving
manual techniques with a special interest in the spine. Corinne greatly
benefited with a variety offantastic internships, including the Virginia Spine Institute, Inova
Fairfax Trauma and Cardiovascular Units, and The Jackson Clinics.Her last and favorite internship landed
her at BioMechanic Physical Therapy where we invited her to return as a
full-time therapist.
Corinne has a passion for people. Traveling to Nicaragua in May 2010 on a medical mission’s
trip with Shenandoah University, she served as one of six physical therapists
within a group of fifty-nine medical professionals.During that week we were able to treat over 1200 individuals
in need, but the physical therapist team was also able to educate the special
needs school and only hospital in improved rehabilitation techniques.Corinne hopes that throughout her
career she can continue to help many, including reaching out to other third-world
countries in need.
Graduating undergrad with a minor in theatre, Corinne has 18
years of dance training with a focus in ballet and pointe and has been
choreographing musical theater for six years.Coming from a performing arts family, Corinne continues
to have a passion for performers – both active and retired. She desires to
incorporate the specialized needs of performers creatively within the realm of
physical therapy.
